You can also befriend some of the existing employees of the organization and have a little glimpse through their profile of how they reflect the organization&#8217;s culture and climate.</p>

<p>Before entering the organization you should be clear about the terms and conditions of the organization. If you have the slightest doubt regarding any of the policies or norms that the company follows you should clear it out with the HR. Read the company’s policies carefully and be sure about where you are getting in.</p>

<p>It’s important to have a positive approach when you are starting something new. You may have years of experience and the work itself might not be new to you. But it’s important to have an open mind when you are being introduced to a new organization.</p>

<p>Meeting tends to become a time consuming and tedious process and the longer it stretches the more the audience gets defocused from the main topic.</p>
<p>However, this doesn’t mean meetings are a waste of time or organizations should not be holding meetings because meetings are necessary to cover important issues that are relevant to the organization and the people associated with it. But more effective ways of conducting a meeting should be taken into consideration. A good meeting can <a href="https://thehrmonks.com/2019/09/23/three-ways-to-face-challenges-at-work/">boost employee productivity</a> to a great extent.</p>
<h2>Here are a few tips to make a meeting more successful:</h2>
<p><strong>Find out the necessity of the meeting: </strong>Before holding a meeting make sure that the reason for holding the meeting is relevant to the people who are going to be a part of it. Make sure the topic is of such importance that a face to face meeting is an absolute necessity and not something that could be easily passed on as instructions on email or memorandum on the notice board.</p>
<p><strong>Do Proper Planning: </strong>A lot of times, precious time gets wasted because of a lack of proper planning ahead. If a meeting is arranged make sure the set up is ready before the arrival of the people. All the equipment’s for example- projectors, laptops, Wi-Fi connections are working and are ready, to begin with as soon as the commencement of the meeting.</p>
<p>This is a very small step but is of utmost importance in order to make the meeting more successful and use the available time is the most productive way.</p>
<p><strong>Have Clarity of the purpose: </strong>The agenda or the purpose of the meeting should be clear and concise. There should be no beating about the bush and the reason for holding the meeting should be conveyed clearly to the people participating. This will establish a better ground for holding the meeting.</p>
<p><strong>Have a Fixed Time Schedule: </strong>The length of the meeting also plays an important part in determining the success of the meeting.</p>
<p>Make sure that the time schedule is followed and it should not be too lengthy or too short. There should be enough time to successfully cover the required topic and no amount of valuable time is wasted in doing so.</p>
<p><strong>Have Minutes of the Meeting: </strong>The points that are discussed and agreed on should have a written format in order to have a documented version of the meeting. This will be helpful in having a clear understanding of what actually happened in the meeting and what are the points that were covered by it.</p>
<p><strong>Conclusion of the meeting: </strong>At last the points covered should be jotted down and a conclusion should be given.</p>
<p>Also, all the people attending the meeting should be encouraged to give their valuable suggestions and the meeting should be a <a href="https://thehrmonks.com/2019/11/07/five-effective-tips-to-improve-communication-in-the-workplace/">two-way communication process</a>.</p>

For example – A guy is good at cricket but has less time to have focus on it because of his work life. So here while working for an organization, the same guy can represent the game on behalf of the company and do those activities that he is good at.</p>
<p>It is very important to have <a href="https://thehrmonks.com/2017/03/08/employee-motivation-2/">few extra-curricular activities</a> because that will help the person to develop his soft skills by building up his communication skills, gelling up with new people, help in sharing and understanding their views and thoughts and also that will help the person to expand his network at the meantime.</p>
<h2>The importance of extra-curricular activities at the workplace are as follows:</h2>
<p><strong>Fresh outlook:</strong> Some employees are worried to participate in extra-curricular activities because they believe that this might harm a person’s daily schedule and make them divert from achieving his/her ambition. However extracurricular activities will help a person to improve his outlook in general.</p>
<p>One should participate in those activities where he/she is passionate to do so and this will expand brain function and also will help you to focus on your work.</p>
<p><strong>Increase Self-Esteem</strong><strong>:</strong> The confidence level of the employees will rise by doing those things where they are passionate about. By indulging in extra-curricular activities apart from work, the employees will be able to focus on his/her creative side and that will give them a massive boost in their attitude and also might bring overall improvement in their life.</p>
<p><strong>Break</strong> <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Monotony: </strong>By introducing extra-curricular activities the employees can take a break from the regular monotonous schedule and can rewind their minds from everyday issues.</p>
<p>This will, in turn, help the employee in becoming <a href="https://thehrmonks.com/2017/03/06/employee-motivation/">productive at work.</a></p>
<p><strong>Improve</strong><strong> Team Bonding: </strong>By indulging in an extra-curricular activity the colleagues who meet each other and work together in the regular work setting can have a different outlook at each other. By taking part in the activity together for the organization they can have a better bond and form a sense of belongingness for the organization.</p>
<p>Overall introducing extra-curricular activities in the workplace can bring in a lot of positive changes in the lives of the employees of the organization and can impact the organization on a positive note.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Habits form over a period of time by repeating similar kinds of behavioral pattern and it occurs subconsciously. A bad habit can be increasingly difficult to break. In order to break an ongoing pattern of behavior i.e. a habit, a person needs to put conscious efforts to break the cycle of the habit.</p>
<p>If you are trying to break a bad habit for example- Biting nails, coming late to work every day, overspending, etc. these are easy to form but very difficult to break. Sometimes what starts as an occasional thing becomes a full-fledged bad habit.</p>
<h2>To be able to reverse such habitual behavioral pattern the following steps can be taken:</h2>
<p><strong>Identify the problem- </strong>By identifying the problem it means to be able to detect the actual reason why the habit is formed. For example- If you are late every day for office identify why it is happening in the first place. Are you getting out of your house late or are you unaware of the shortest route? If you have a clear idea of your shortcomings it will come handy in reversing the bad habit from the core.</p>
<p><strong>The Environment- </strong>The environment is the surroundings that trigger or start the habit in the first place. Try to make a change from your current environment. For example- Take a break from your regular routine, it relaxes your mind and diverts your attention from the bad habit and try something else that is of your interest.</p>
<p><strong>Set Rewards and Punishments – </strong>Set your own rewards for being able to motivate yourself to avoid the bad habit and in failing to do so set a punishment also. Each time you repeat the bad habit subconsciously you will have to punish yourself as a reminder to avoid it in the future.</p>
<p><strong>Stay Calm and Have Patience- </strong>To reverse a bad habit you need to stay calm and be patient about it.</p>
<p>Getting frustrated won’t help you in changing a behavioral pattern. Changing a habit requires continuous efforts and motivation. Understand that <a href="https://thehrmonks.com/2018/09/27/time-is-same-for-all/">forming new patterns of behaviors</a> and reversing a set pattern of behavior won’t happen overnight it is indeed a lengthy process. So don’t lose hope in the first attempt and don’t quit in changing your bad habit.</p>
<p>At the end, we can say that to change a bad habit we need to have <a href="https://thehrmonks.com/2019/11/01/success-in-life-comes-not-from-motivation-but-self-discipline-and-habits/">strong determination and willpower</a>. To reverse a behavioral pattern we need to strive hard with patience and not give up easily on our set goals.</p>

<p>Effective communication can help to foster a good working relationship within the organization, which can, in turn, improve the morale and efficiency of the employees.</p>
<p>Maintaining effective communication in the organization <a href="https://thehrmonks.com/2016/12/14/feedback-can-make-break-team/">becomes a matter of concern for the management</a> as in failing to do so it may result in dissatisfaction among the employees which can further have more dreadful consequences.</p>
<h3>Here are some tips about how employees can have effective communication within the organization:</h3>
<p><strong>Have Clarity of Thoughts and to be a good Listener:</strong></p>
<p>Before communicating the person should have a clear idea of what he actually wants the receiver to take from his message. He should know the objective of his message and, therefore, he should arrange his thoughts in proper order.</p>
<p>The sender should have a clear and uncluttered understanding of what he wants to convey to the receiver. In order to make the communication successful, the receiver has to listen carefully without holding any biased opinions.</p>
<p><strong>Maintain Proper Tone and Language:</strong></p>
<p>The tone plays a major role in effective communication. If the sender is unable to set a proper tone for his message then it can be highly misleading for the receiver ends to decode the actual meaning of the message.</p>
<p>Also, the language should be kept in mind. If the receiver is not familiar with the language of the sender then there is a gap in communication. Also, the words that are used in the workplace should not be disrespectful and should be framed logically.</p>
<p><strong>To encourage employees to speak their minds clearly:</strong></p>
<p>To have a communication friendly workplace the management should encourage the employees to speak up what they feel without having any fear of being judged by anyone. This will help the organization to have a clear and constant flow of communication and the management can have a proper idea of what is actually going on in the minds of the employees.</p>
<p>Any confusion or misleading thoughts can be directly clarified by the management as and when they appear.</p>
<p><strong>Have a Face to Face Communication:</strong></p>
<p>It is important to hold face to face communication with the employees in an organization on a regular basis. By doing so the manager can see the body language, voice changes and expressions of the employee and can have a better understanding of how the person thinks or feels.</p>

<p>Feedback is a crucial point for effective communication. It can be a two-way process where the top management provides feedback to the employees about their work performance, and the employees also feel good at giving feedback with regards to how well the company&#8217;s policies are performing.</p>

Corporate dressing helps an individual to dress according to his organizational work profile. What a person wears is how he wants to present himself in front of the people he interacts with and how he wants others to perceive himself. <a href="https://thehrmonks.com/2017/04/21/dress-for-job-interviews/">It is true in case of interviews too</a>.</span></p>
<h2><span data-preserver-spaces="true">The following are how formal dressing is helpful in an organization:</span></h2>
<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces="true">(i) The First Impression:</span></strong></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">The most important thing for someone especially in the corporate world is the first impression that he creates on others. If a person is properly dressed for the occasion he creates a lasting impact on the minds of the people he interacts with. Once a good impression is made the person gets an added advantage to his credit. This first impression can go a long way for corporate personnel.</span></p>
<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces="true"> (ii) Boosts the Confidence level of the Individual:</span></strong></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">A person wearing modest formals will have a better confidence level in an organization rather than a person who is not appropriately dressed for work. How an individual dress for work can be a powerful extension of his brand. Everything that he chooses to wear helps to reinforce his skills and qualities in the eyes of the people he interacts with. When an individual is comfortable in his skin he naturally gains more confidence to go about his work and give his best for the organization and himself.</span></p>
<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces="true">(iii) Promotes Professionalism in the workplace:</span></strong></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Employees are a representation of the workplace they come from. The company’s goals and visions are reflected through its employees. A standard dress code ensures that everyone is a part of the group and is working towards the same purpose. This ensures that professionalism stays intact within the organization.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">To conclude we can say that incorporate world formal dressing plays an important factor in determining the place of an individual in the organization. The individual should keep in mind to dress modestly and to be comfortable in what he chooses to wear.</span></p>
